At The Baseline, we are committed to publishing journalism that is accurate, fair and in the public interest. Every article undergoes editorial review before publication, and we take reasonable steps to verify information using credible sources.
Despite these efforts, errors can occur. When they do, we are committed to correcting them promptly, transparently and fairly.
Reporting an Error

How We Handle Corrections
The action we take will depend on the nature and significance of the issue.
Corrections
If factual information is found to be incorrect, we will amend the article as soon as reasonably practicable.
Where a correction materially changes the substance or meaning of a story, we will include an editor’s note explaining what has been corrected.
Clarifications
If an article is factually accurate but contains wording that may be unclear, misleading or lacking sufficient context, we may revise the text to improve clarity for readers.
Updates
News is constantly evolving. Articles may be updated after publication as new verified information becomes available.
Updates are a normal part of digital journalism and do not necessarily indicate that earlier reporting was inaccurate.
Retractions
In exceptional circumstances, where a significant error cannot reasonably be corrected or where publication should not have occurred, The Baseline may remove or retract an article.
Where appropriate, we will publish a notice explaining the reason for the retraction.
Transparency
Transparency is fundamental to maintaining our readers’ trust.
Significant factual corrections will not be made without acknowledgement. Where a correction materially affects an article, readers will be informed that changes have been made.
Minor edits, including corrections to spelling, grammar, punctuation or formatting that do not alter the meaning of an article, may be made without a formal correction notice.
